Our Philosophy
We believe the essential role of “Avenues for Success” is to deliver a “well-educated” student to society. Along with the “traditional” pillars of education, that include daily instruction in math, reading, science and writing, it is imperative we broaden the experiences and opportunities offered to our students, that will transform them from “educated” students into “well-educated students”. We are passionate about our students finding life-long interests, and possibly a future career choice, from an experience in an “Avenues for Success” club or program.

ABOUT "SUCCESS"
Our Background
The Norwood City School District is committed to the children and families of Norwood, Ohio, and has been since 1838 when Central School was erected, and began to educate generations of Norwood families. While the district continues to provide traditional education services, as it has done for over two centuries, we realize that for our students to be competitive in the 21st Century there is a critical need for extended, non-traditional learning opportunities beyond the typical school day. “Avenues for Success” is a direct outcome of that revelation.
“Avenues for Success”, Norwood City Schools After School Program, provides extended learning opportunities, before and after school, for students Kindergarten through Twelfth grade. We provide academic, social, recreational and enrichment “clubs” in the elementary, middle school and high school. We partner with the R.E. Lindner YMCA in Norwood to provide “traditional” before and after school care in all three elementary schools.
“Avenues for Success” provides an experiential environment. We intentionally seek opportunities that provide innovative ways for our students to learn, explore new interests, possibly choose a lifelong career, or view the world from a new and different perspective. We challenge our students to reach beyond the ordinary and strive to become extraordinary.
