Partnership Defined
The definition of partner that we go by is “A friend who shares a common interest or participates in achieving a common goal.” Our partners support our common interest in benefiting the student body of the Norwood City Schools and share our common goal to see these students advance educationally and socially by providing academic supports and enrichment opportunities that they may never experience without our mutual support and encouragement. Our partners are the bedrock this program is built upon.
Who are Our Partners?
The Norwood City Schools Afterschool Program Avenues for Success is a partnership between the school system and our local organizations and business. The program’s integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities.
Avenues for Success is the centerpiece for collaboration among many partners to offer a range of supports and opportunities to students, youth, families and communities. Students are ready to enter school; students attend school consistently; students are actively involved in learning and their community; families are increasingly involved with their students’ education; schools are engaged with families and communities; students succeed academically; students are healthy - physically, socially, and emotionally; students live and learn in a safe, supportive, and stable environment, and communities are desirable places to live.
In business you often hear that what we value, we measure. For any Organization, including Avenues for Success, to survive and prosper we must continually increase the spread between the benefits we provide and the cost of providing those benefits. Businesses might refer to this as the “Value.”
In defining our value it is essential that we recognize both the tangible benefits we bring to our partners and the less tangible benefits that are so essential to the program, its students and families. While the tangible keeps partners engaged and enthusiastically supporting our program, the intangible is often life changing for many of our students. Our partners understand this partnership model and share our vision of success.
